Summer Singers

A partnership between The Ohio State University School of Music and Columbus Children’s Choir, with generous support by the Kiwanis Club of Columbus.

 

Middle School Choral Day Camp
June 4 – 10, 2017, Hughes Auditorium

Summer Singers (Mon.-Fri. 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m.) provides an opportunity for singers entering grades 6-9 to develop vocal technique and musicianship skills in a fun, fast-paced and challenging choral ensemble setting. The program welcomes singers with treble, unchanged voices at all levels of experience. In addition to full ensemble and sectional rehearsals, the daily schedule includes interactive experiences with music reading, movement, drama and drumming. The program culminates in public performances on the main stage at the Columbus Arts Festival and in The Ohio State School of Music’s Weigel Auditorium.

Artistic directors: Professor Julia Shaw and Jeanne Wohlgamuth

Eligibility: For students with treble, unchanged voices entering grades 6-9 in the 2017-2018 school year. Singers with all levels of experience are welcome.
Program fee: $295 – Tuition and T-shirt. No housing or meals.

Registration deadline: May 8, 2017
This program may reach capacity before the deadline. We will accept the first 100 students who have registered, paid and submitted required forms.

Elementary Choral Day Camp
June 19 – 23, 2017,  Columbus Children’s Choir

Summer Singers (Mon.-Friday 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.) provides an opportunity for singers entering grades 3-5 to develop vocal technique and musicianship skills in a fun and engaging setting. The program welcomes singers with treble, unchanged voices at all levels of experience. In addition to singing, the daily schedule includes interactive experiences with music reading, movement, folk dance, and drumming. The program culminates in an informal performance for family and friends.

Directors: Sarah Santilli and Tracy Conway

Eligibility: For students entering grades 3-5 in the 2017-2018 school year. Singers with all levels of experience are welcome.
Program fee: $155 – Tuition, t-shirt, snacks, music. No housing or meals.

This program may reach capacity before the deadline. We will accept the first 50 students who have registered, paid and submitted required forms.

Need-based financial aid is available. Please email Columbus Children’s Choir at info@columbuschildrenschoir.org to request a financial aid application. First-round awards will be made in early March. Funds are limited, so early application is recommended.
