Columbus Children’s Choir (CCC) is a welcoming and inclusive organization that prioritizes the safety of children.

CCC has an open door policy and suggests that complainants share their questions, concerns, suggestions, or complaints with their with their choral director/teacher in the case of student participants and parent/guardians, or their supervisor in the case of staff and volunteers. If complainant is not comfortable speaking with their supervisor or choral director/teacher, or is not satisfied with the outcome, they are encouraged to speak with either the Managing Director or Board President as appropriate. Staff and volunteers are required to report complaints or concerns about suspected ethical and legal violations in writing to CCC’s Board President, who has the responsibility to initiate an investigation of all reported complaints.

Drop off/Pick up and Parking Procedures – Singer safety is our goal

    • Parents/guardians must walk your singer upstairs for drop off and pick up.
    • Singers should be prepared and in their seats 5-10 minutes before rehearsal.
    • Do not drop your singer off prior to the arrival of your Choir Manager and/or Director (15 minutes prior to rehearsal).
    • Park your car in a parking space both at arrival and dismissal.
    • Do not drop off or pick up near the orange cones, or stop in the middle of the parking lot. This blocks the way into/out and creates a hazard for our children.
    • Staff may or may not not be available to monitor arrival/dismissal outside, so we need YOU to assist with singer safety.
  4. Behavior (excerpt from the 2024 – 2025 handbook)
At Columbus Children’s Choir, our goal is to maintain a safe and respectful environment in which your child can learn. Therefore, we place a great emphasis on encouraging appropriate behavior of children to help them develop self-control, self-confidence, and self-discipline. Parents are expected to support children by encouraging appropriate behavior. While an effort is made to help children understand why some behaviors are not acceptable, Columbus Children’s Choir maintains the right to excuse singer’s from specific events, rehearsals, or the entire program for behavior that falls outside our policies. This includes, but it not limited to, behavior inconsistent with the following:

    • Prompt: be on time to rehearsals, performances, and other CCC events.
    • Prepared: always bring music to rehearsals and practice between rehearsals.
    • Positive: be positive and respectful. Use kind and uplifting words (no profanity, teasing, name calling, or inappropriate language).
    • Polite: please, thank you, and you’re welcome are always acceptable.
    • Productive: listen to the director, engage in the lesson, focus on learning.
    • Zero tolerance: Any bullying behavior is grounds for immediate dismissal from the program. Columbus Children’s Choir is an inclusive and welcoming organization that nurtures and inspires all children regardless of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, national origin (ancestry), disability, and sexual orientation.
    • Destruction of property: destructive behavior is not tolerated and may result in dismissal from the choir. Any damages caused by a singer are the financial responsibility of the parents.
  5. Inclusion (excerpt from the CCC vision statement)
