AMERICAN PRIZE WINNERS AGAIN
September 30, 2021Greg Gilpin at Choral Fest
November 2, 2021Fall has arrived and it’s the perfect time to get back to our teacher spotlights! This month, we are happy to introduce you to our new Presto choir director, Dameon Jones. He is actually one of Jeanne’s former Capital students and has performed with CCC at Holiday Pops as a current member of the Columbus Symphony Chorus.
Mr. Jones is a respected performer, singer and music educator for over 14 years, who is dedicated to the growth of students and their craft. With a Bachelor of Music from Ohio Wesleyan University and Master of Music in Education with Kodály emphasis from Capital University, Jones currently serves as the music teacher at Hopewell Elementary in Dublin, Ohio.
Prior to his role at Hopewell Elementary, Jones worked at Thomas Worthington High School as director of Choral Activities. During his time at Thomas Worthington his students performed various masterworks, including Mozart Regina Coeli and Schubert Mass in G with the Thomas Worthington Chamber Orchestra. The choirs also performed with the Singing Men of Ohio, The Alliance Choir, and the Ohio Wesleyan University Chamber Choir. The Thomas Worthington Women’s Chorale performed for the OMEA Columbus Professional Development Conference in February of 2018.
When not performing or teaching, Dameon enjoys spending time with his wife, Dr. Heather Bowen-Jones, an optometrist and daughters Avery (3) and Brynn (1).
Do you or your singer have a special memory of working with Dameon Jones you would like to share? Simply send why you love working with Mr. Jones to kerry@columbuschildrenschoir.org and we will print out your message and share it on the bulletin board along with other warm words.
